Ranking Criteria
- Must have a sweet taste – The sweeter, the better. Even if it is sweet and sour, the sweetness must be very intense.
- Aroma – High scores are given to bananas with a scent similar to synthetic banana . Following scores: honey or vanilla,sweet scents, and the lowest scores for faint or no scent. Negative scores: scents like overripe/near-rotting bananas in fresh banana.
- Texture – Fluffy, chewy, soft, or firm are all considered good. Low scores: mushy or slimy/slippery textures.

“Banana candy” in this article refers to the scent of banana candy that resembles synthetic banana flavoring. No banana in the world smells 100% like synthetic banana. they are only similar. Hom Thong and Gros Michel bananas are close, but not exactly like synthetic scent—just similar.
